Winemaker's Cut New Home

Dear Friends,

It is my absolute pleasure to send to you our first Spring greetings from the Okanagan, and most importantly from Deadman Lake Vineyard in Oliver – now officially home of Winemaker’s CUT. As we continue on our venture we are proud to announce that we are a newly licensed independent wine producer. Winemaker’s CUT is from now on our full-time job, and our commitment to you is to create wines that you enjoyed so much in past years. It is a huge step for us; when I first arrived in Canada in 2012 with my wife we would have never thought that we would be so welcomed and supported in producing our wines in a style we strongly believe in. Thank you for being part of our journey. A journey that is not much different than yours. A journey of commitment, hard work and passion.

Winemaker’s CUT / Oliver BC

The 2018 harvest happened at Winemaker’s CUT new home, at Deadman Lake Vineyard near Oliver. After leaving our home country and a small winery in Slovakia in 2012, we had never thought we would own a winery here in Canada. A dream was made true and we are incredibly grateful.

At this point, we are not operating a tasting room or a wine shop.

Our focus is in the vineyard and winemaking. Our production is very limited and focused on wines that showcase the natural reflection of our vineyard, climate and terroir.

What made the CUT? At this pivotal point in our wine life, we want to look back on what made the CUT. What our philosophy is and the stories behind the scenes: Cultivating natural and sustainable vineyards with utmost respect to nature. Incorporating classical music in the vineyard and cellar in appreciation of art and harmony. Capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments in the vineyard, the cellar and in good company. Composing quality wines that honour traditional winemaking.

Classical Music

Winemaker's Cut classical music

We have brought our passion for classical music from our home country, Slovakia. The village where we used to have a boutique winery was in a region where Beethoven used to visit. In fact, he even wrote a very famous masterpiece, “For Elise”, there. This was the birthplace of our philosophy to highlight terroir that reflects not only land and climate, but also a region, people and their lives. Exposing grapes and wines to classical music add our personal touch, as well as a lot of positive emotions to the plants and ourselves. At every winery we have worked for in the Okanagan, we have played classical music in the cellar. And there won’t be any different with our very own Winemaker’s CUT.
