We were driving back from a trip to Oregon Wine Country when we happened to see the Kismet Wine Estate just off of Highway 97 near Road 20 Oliver. Immediately my thoughts passed back to my childhood and the time I spent with my Grandmother in Melbourne.
You see, Gran was a musical comedy fan and one of the best musicals at the time was Kismet. The score had some amazing tunes that stay with you forever. Who could forget love songs like “Stranger in Paradise” or “And this is my Beloved”? Anyway, I digress. On to the wine action.
Kismet Estate Winery is one of the largest family-owned estate wineries in the Okanagan. They grow grapes on nearly 500 acres of land.
Kismet Heritage
Having grown grapes for the last 20 years we have established ourselves as one of the premier award winning grape growers in the valley. Our story started with our family immigrating from India in the 1990’s and making Okanagan our home. We have always worked to establish ourselves as hard working and determined family.
The name Kismet is derived from the Punjabi word ‘destiny’. We consider ourselves lucky to be able to consider Canada our home that provided us with endless possibilities. This has been a long time dream of our family to share our labour of love and hard work directly with customers.
Our wines are meant to over deliver on your expectations and we hope that our determined experience and dedication for our wines has an everlasting effect on your tasting experience.

The Wines
Kismet Estate Winery Saféd 2020 ($18)
60% Sauvignon Blanc, 29% Semillion, 11% Orange Muscat
Each variety is hand-harvested and vinified separately in a luscious uncommon blend.
Saféd means clear. This white blend is 63% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Sémillon and 12% Orange Muscat. This makes for a somewhat exotic wine, with aromas of dried stone fruit followed by citrusy orange notes and orange peel and with spice and citrus flavours on the palate. The finish is crisp and dry.
Kismet Estate Winery Lotus Rośe 2020 ($22)
Created through the saignee of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Mourvedre, and Grenache. Add to this the aroma-rich variety, Orange Muscat, and experience an explosion of flavours on your palate. This wine is finished with plenty of residual sugar balanced by ample acidity. Drink very well chilled.
Kismet Estate Winery Karma 2017 ($20)
This is a Merlot dominant blend – 35% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 13% Syrah. This is a juicy medium-bodied wine that has aromas of blackberry and black currant with dark chocolate and spices with a hint of toasty oak.
The flavours are layered deep and intense with exquisitely balanced tannins. A delicious awesome value blend that pairs beautifully with burgers, steak or roast beef.
