Red wine is typically the most famous wine choice for Valentine’s Day, especially varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Merlot. These wines are considered romantic and are often paired with a special dinner or chocolate.
However, Sparkling Rosé is also a popular choice for Valentine’s Day. The combination of sweet, fruity and bubbly notes, along with its pink colour, makes it a fitting beverage for the occasion of love and affection. Additionally, it pairs well with various foods, making it a versatile option for a special dinner or date.
Here is a list of some of my favourite BC Sparkling Rosés.
Noble Ridge The Pink One 2018 ($39.99)
The 100% Pinot Noir grapes for this wine are from the Okanagan Falls estate vineyard.
The wine has 4 Hours of skin contact. The free-run juice was cool-fermented. The sparkling wine was made “Méthode Traditionnelle” with En Tirage for 29 months.
12.1% Alcohol / pH 3.17 / TA 7.5 g/L / RS 1.4 g/L.
A gorgeous vivid salmon hue. Aromas of fresh strawberry and rose petals with a hint of almond. Flavours of cherry, raspberry and baked pear with a hint of earthy bread and a long, soft finish. 93 Points.
2022 WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada Gold Medal Winner.
Church and State Gris de Noirs 2020 ($38.81)
This is the second vintage of the sparkling Rosé made by Church and State. The first vintage was so flavour-rich that we ordered a case! The Pinot Noir grapes were sourced from the four-hectare estate Brentwood Bay vineyard on Vancouver Island.
Alcohol: 11.9% / TA 9.2 g/L / RS 13.9 g/L
The Pinot Noir grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in bottles for at least 12 months after the second fermentation.
A gorgeous pale salmon hue. Aromas of fresh strawberries and rose petals with a hint of hazelnut. Full of luscious ripe peach with a hint of strawberry and blackberry. The exciting creamy mousse mouthfeel is also perfectly balanced and refreshing. 93 Points.
S’Milka Vista Sparkling Rosé ($29.99)
The rosé is based on the exceptional 2020 vintage. The grapes for the sparkling Rosé came from the 30-acre Chapman Vineyard located in Okanagan Falls. Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are planted, and the soils combine gravel, clay and sandy loam.
The Rosé is 70% Pinot Gris / 30% Pinot Noir.
12.5% Alcohol / pH 3.15 / TA 7.7 / RS 4.2 / Free SO2 5 ppm / Total SO2 38 ppm
A fruit-forward sparkling rosé with plenty of bubbles made by the tank method like Prosecco. Light aromas of strawberries and flavours of strawberry, ripe peach and rhubarb with a rich mouthfeel. The sparkler has excellent mousse and depth of flavour. 90 Points.
Township 7 seven stars Equinox 2018
Wine Club members only
This alluring, single-vineyard sparkling Brut Rosé is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from Stoneridge Vineyard in Okanagan Falls.
Situated on a southwest-facing hillside overlooking the meandering Okanagan River by Vaseaux Lake, the climate here is ideal for sparkling grapes. The intense south Okanagan summer heat is tempered by the coolness of its elevation and proximity to the river. The maintained acidity accentuates aromatics and fruit flavours within the finished wine. The wine was left en tirage for 30 months to ensure the development of autolytic characters. After riddling and disgorging, a small amount of our proprietary dosage was added for complexity and depth of flavour.
12% Alcohol | pH 3.1 | TA 9.1 g/L | RS 6.4 g/L | Vegan
A fabulous pale salmon-coloured Brut Rosé sparkling wine. Equinox is inspired by the date when day and night are of equal length. The wine is complex due to the extended lees and tannin profile aging.
Fresh strawberry and rhubarb aromas dance from the glass with a breath of brioche and Meyer lemon. Flavours of strawberry, rhubarb, citrus and ripe apple. The mousse is creamy, the body of the wine has a refreshing acidity, and the bubbles are amazing in length. 94 Points
Evolve Pink EFFERVESCENCE NV ($22.99)
50% Pinot Blanc, 30% Merlot and 20% Chardonnay. Evolve makes this wine by the Charmat Method, like Prosecco. The base wine is added together with the sugar and yeast mixture into a large tank. As the wine has a second fermentation, the carbon dioxide released by the fermentation causes the tank to pressurize. The wine is then filtered, dosed and bottled without aging.
Pale pink rose petal in colour. Aromas of ripe red peach and flavours of watermelon, cherry and strawberries. 90 Points
