Celebrate the exceptional creation of “Liquid Gold” from frozen Okanagan vineyards at Grizzli Winery’s Icewine Celebration Month. Every January, Grizzli Winery focuses on celebrating all things Icewine! The Okanagan Valley is one of a handful of regions in the world that can craft an authentic Icewine.
Icewine is an internationally-recognized style of wine but only produced in a handful of countries. Icewine is made from grapes that are naturally frozen on the vines past fall harvest and up until temperatures reach -8°C or lower. In present years, temperatures have taken a bit more time to drop and harvesting has been after the New Year. Because of Canada’s well-known winter climates, Icewine can be produced year after year compared to other wine-producing regions. Once harvested, the grapes are crushed while still frozen. As the grapes are frozen solid, only the concentrated juice is released drop by drop. The grapes’ nectar, commonly known as “liquid gold”, is attributed to the highly concentrated natural sugar content that is balanced with the high acidity.
At Grizzli Winery, every year during these cold winter months, their entire team works together to make arrangements in preparation for icewine harvesting. This year they have curated three unique experiences for you to explore and deepen your understanding of Icewine. From complimentary weekend introductory Icewine tours, to a themed Icewine Happy Hour, they finish off the month with a deluxe evening of Jazz and Icewine pairings at their gala.
Some experiences are limited, book them now before they sell out.
