An Exclusive Release Showcasing 10 Years from the Cellars of Harper’s Trail Now Available

Kamloops, British Columbia, May 1, 2023 – Harper’s Trail Winery announces the release of an exclusive selection of library wines. To celebrate their retirement, winery owners, Ed and Vicki Collett have ‘opened the cellar door’ to a collection of flagship wines that have been intentionally selected and meticulously cellared over the last 10 years.

A reflection of season and time, the library collection showcases the winery’s signature varieties from 2011 to 2020. “These wines reflect a piece of Harper’s Trail history, says owner Ed Collett, and at the same show how each wine continues to evolve and gain complexity with additional time in the bottle,” adds Collett.

Leading up to the release, the winery’s original winemaker, Michael Bartier, along with a panel of local sommeliers and wine industry professionals tasted through a decade of various varietals curating the ‘best of the best’ for library release features. “It’s hard to capture in a few words the essence of what we tasted but let’s just say that we were all very impressed with the overall quality and age-worthiness of these wines,” comments winemaker, Michael Bartier.

“It is not often that people get the opportunity to experience library wines and the chance to taste a particular wine over several vintages. It is quite fascinating,” says Bartier. “It is both educational and fun to taste quality wines over time. It’s a real treat.”

The limited release library collection will be available exclusively through the winery during the month of May. In addition to the current releases in the tasting room, the winery has set up a pop-up “library room” with a unique tasting bar. Visitors to the winery will have access to the full selection of library wines as well as the opportunity to taste through several focused tastings including 3-year vertical flights featuring Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, and Riesling.

For those unable to visit the winery in May, a selection of 3-year vertical bundles have been specially curated and are available for online purchase at https://www.harperstrail.com/shop

As part of the May festivities, special pricing will be offered on both current vintage and library wines with a 15% discount on 3 bottles or more, 20 % off 6 bottles or more, and 25% off 12 bottles or more. “It’s an incredible opportunity to experience a multi-vintage tasting and to stock up on current and past favourites from Harper’s Trail,” says owner Vicki Collett.

The winery will be open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in May including a happy hour special with live music on Fridays from 5pm to 7pm.

About Harper’s Trail

Harper’s Trail Estate Winery, named for the cattle drive “trail” of pioneer rancher Thaddeus Harper, is the first winery established in Kamloops. Founded, owned, and operated by local business owners, Ed and Vicki Collett, the winery now forms part of the Thompson Valley wine GI (geographic indication). Tucked into the city outskirts on the bank of the South Thompson River, the winery’s 25.5-acre Thadd Springs vineyard sits among rolling hills of sage and grass and is home to bighorn sheep, and a myriad of wildlife. The backdrop of limestone, Hoodoos, and a natural spring set the biodiversity of this rare place. The estate wines of Harper’s Trail are Thompson Valley grown and made, showcasing the gorgeous minerality and crisp acidity reflective of the region’s terroir.  https://www.harperstrail.com/
