Sparkling Rosés to Fall in Love With This Valentine’s Day

Reading Time: 4 minutes

💕 Red wine often steals the spotlight on Valentine’s Day — think Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, or Merlot — classic choices that pair beautifully with candlelit dinners and rich chocolate desserts.

But there’s another wine style that feels made for Valentine’s Day: Sparkling Rosé.

With its delicate pink hue, lively bubbles, and vibrant red-fruit flavours, Sparkling Rosé brings a sense of celebration to the table. It’s playful yet elegant, romantic without being heavy, and incredibly food-friendly — perfect for everything from oysters and seafood to charcuterie, roast chicken, or even chocolate-covered strawberries.

Whether you’re planning an intimate dinner, a casual date night, or simply raising a glass to love (self-love included), Sparkling Rosé delivers freshness, versatility, and unmistakable Valentine’s flair.

🥂 Here are five of my favourite BC Sparkling Rosés to enjoy this Valentine’s Day.

River Stone Sparkling White Merlot 2024 ($27.90)

“The grapes for this wine were grown in the Horse Heaven Hills AVA in the larger Columbia Valley AVA in Washington State. Like the South Okanagan Valley, daytime heat was plentiful, with cooler nights allowing for optimal ripening while retaining vital natural acidity. Fruit was harvested to match the acidity, ripeness, and potential alcohol similar to previous vintages from our estate fruit. The quality of the fruit was exceptional, and we chose to vinify using the same method as previous vintages.

The grapes were pressed immediately after destemming, limiting colour extraction. The wine then underwent a temperature-controlled fermentation, and forced carbonation was used before bottling to preserve the fresh fruit character.” Winemaker, Ted Kane

This sparkling rosé captivates with a luminous salmon-pink hue. Delicate aromas of wild strawberries and rose petals unfurl, inviting exploration. Medium-bodied and vibrant, it dances on the palate with flavours of ripe cherries, juicy strawberries, tart raspberry, succulent peach, zesty pink grapefruit, and a subtle whisper of thyme. Effervescent bubbles lend a creamy yet lively mouthfeel, culminating in a crisp, enduring finish that refreshes and lingers. 92 Points.

Pair with freshly shucked oysters, seared scallops or simply with fresh burrata and crostini.

Noble Ridge The Pink One 2019 ($34.99)

The 100% Pinot Noir grapes for this wine are from the Okanagan Falls estate vineyard.

The wine has 4 Hours of skin contact. The free-run juice was cool-fermented. The sparkling wine “Méthode Traditionnelle” was made with En Tirage for 34 months.

12.1% Alcohol / pH 3,24 / TA 7.1 g/L / RS 6.4 g/L.

It’s a gorgeous, vivid salmon hue.  Aromas of fresh strawberry and rose petals with a hint of hazelnut.  Flavours of cherry, raspberry and baked pear with a hint of earthy bread and a long, soft finish.  92 Points.

Evolve Rosé Brut 2018 ($49.99)

Grape Varieties: 50% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, 9% Pinot Blanc, and a delicate touch of 1% Syrah from Skaha Lookout & Kuipers Vineyards

Winemaking: Traditional method, 5 years on lees, low dosage for a crisp finish.

Tasting Notes: A brilliant peach-hued sparkling rosé with a lively stream of fine, creamy bubbles. Aromas burst with fresh strawberries, red cherries, and a hint of brioche. The palate is dry and vibrant, offering red berry, peach, and subtle red apple flavours, with a whisper of almond-like lees complexity. Crisp acidity and a gentle tannic grip lead to a lingering finish of tart red fruits and orchard apple. 92 Points

Pairing Suggestions: Smoked salmon, beet & goat cheese salad, strawberry shortcake.

Church and State Gris de Noir 2021($33.99)

This is the third vintage of the sparkling Rosé made by Church and State. The first vintage was so flavour-rich that we ordered a case! The Pinot Noir grapes were sourced from the four-hectare estate, Brentwood Bay vineyard, on Vancouver Island.

Alcohol: 11.5% / TA 7.1 g/L / RS 4.8 g/L

The Pinot Noir grapes were fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in bottles after the second fermentation for at least 12 months.

Radiant with a delicate, pale salmon blush, this wine captivates the senses! Bursting with lively aromas of fresh-picked strawberries, fragrant rose petals, and a whisper of toasted hazelnut. On the palate, it dances with juicy, ripe peach, flirtatious hints of strawberry, and a touch of bold blackberry. Its creamy, effervescent mousse texture is a thrilling delight, perfectly balanced with a crisp, refreshing finish. 93 Points

Blue Grouse Charme De L’Île Rosé ($29.99)

The sparkling Rosé is made from 100% Gamay Noir grapes, crafted in the traditional style.

The wine is a vibrant, translucent red with aromas of strawberry and citrus. It has vibrant bubbles, juicy flavours of raspberry, white peach, and pink grapefruit, and a touch of minerality. The perfect Sparkling Beaujolais Rosé. 90 Points.
