Haywire Lunar Red with dumplings, Peking duck and honey-glazed spare ribs
In celebration of the 2026 Lunar New Year and the Year of the Horse, Haywire Winery releases the latest vintage of its limited-edition Haywire Lunar Red — a wine that has become one of British Columbia’s most meaningful annual traditions.
Haywire began this Lunar New Year series in 2014, becoming the first BC winery to release a wine dedicated to the Lunar New Year. More than a decade later, Lunar Red remains both a cultural celebration and a food-first wine designed specifically to pair with the bold, layered flavours of Asian cuisine.
A Wine with Purpose
Produced in limited quantities and priced at $28.88 per bottle, Haywire Lunar Red is available directly from the winery’s online store.
True to the spirit of the Lunar series, a portion of proceeds from every bottle supports the Chinatown Storytelling Centre, Canada’s award-winning cultural hub dedicated to preserving and sharing the stories of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown.
It’s a wine that celebrates community as much as craftsmanship.

Tasting Notes
Aromas of dark plum, cassis, and subtle cigar box spice lead into a smooth, expressive palate layered with black cherry, cocoa, vanilla, warm baking spice and black pepper. A medium-plus bodied wine with firm but polished tannins supports a long, refined finish, making this an ideal partner for richly flavoured dishes. 91 Points

Low-Intervention Winemaking, the Haywire Way
Haywire Winery is rooted in a “less is more” philosophy, with a strong focus on minimal intervention and transparency. Surrounded by estate vineyards in Summerland, the winery uses natural yeast fermentations, concrete vessels, and gentle handling to produce wines that emphasize texture, freshness, and site expression.
Under the guidance of chief winemaker Matt Dumayne, Haywire has become one of BC’s most consistent voices in cool-climate, food-friendly winemaking.
