Nagging Doubt is a small artisan winery located in South East Kelowna. It is a true, artisanal wine – a rigorous, passionate endeavour from winemakers Mark Simpson and Rob Westbury.

I tried Nagging Doubt wines for the first time at Garagiste North in Kelowna and was blown away by the quality and nuances of the wines.

Rob was pouring Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and a red blend–The Pull. The lightly oaked Chardonnay was excellent.

The Pinot Noir was exceptional with a gorgeous violet nose and the Bordeaux blend named The Pull was extraordinaire.

The Pull is 45% Merlot that was cropped at 5 tons per acre but the grapes were lovingly hand sorted by the winemaking team.

The rest of the Saint-Émilion style blend is Cab Sauvignon 22%, Malbec 6%, Cab Franc 16%, Kel 11% and is aged in oak for 18 Months and only 200 cases produced.  The Merlot provides very smooth, enjoyable tannins with nice acidity.

The concept behind the name is that “the pull” of wine overcame Rob’s nagging doubts about getting into the business.

The fruit for Nagging Doubt wines is sourced from four single vineyards: East Bench Osoyoos (The Pull and Viognier), Anarchist Mountain (Chardonnay), Naramata (Merlot) and Peachland (Pinot Noir).

The estate vineyard in South East Kelowna was only planted in 2014 which should deliver the first estate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and White blend wines in 2017.

Suggest you get your hands on these wines as soon as possible as the Kelowna liquor stores are selling out quickly and most of the wines are on allocation.
