Delta Grand Okanagan Resort
June had started out cool and overcast but a perfect sunny day for lunch by the lake had finally arrived. We had heard good press about the restaurant in the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre®, so off we headed to Lake Okanagan.
Parking in downtown Kelowna in the summer can be a challenge, but there was ample parking at the Prospera Place and we just walked across the street to the new Oak + Cru Social Kitchen and Wine Bar.
We had no reservation, but the later time meant missing the downtown business crowd and we were lucky enough to be was shown directly to a lovely table on the waterfront patio. Don’t try this in July or August as reservations are a must during the peak summer months.
Lunch
Executive Chef David Foot’s creations were phenomenal. David Foot has worked in several Executive Chef roles with Shangri-La Hotels in China, Australia and Vancouver. While in Vancouver he also worked as Executive Chef at the Westin Grand as well as prestigious restaurants including Diva at the met, The William Tell and the Prow Restaurant.
Judy had The Other Burg – chickpea and caramelized, onion patty cake, cumin, cucumber, cilantro, spiced yoghurt, tomato jam. I opted for the Brisket Flatbread – smoked brisket, compressed pear, Cambozola blue cheese, mozzarella, hoisin tomato sauce, dijon crème fraîche. Both were yummy! We washed it all down with an outstanding 50th Parallel Rosé.

Private Dining Room
On the way out we noticed the private dining room within the wine vault. When we enquired about the room the Food & Beverage Manager provided the following information.
You can enjoy a private, Okanagan wine paired dinner surrounded by 2,800 bottles of delicious valley wines! Choose from four to five courses and allow the sommelier to pair the perfect vintages while the chefs create the most delicious locally inspired dinner!
Leaving the restaurant we just happened to run into an August Exotic Tours Black Ferrari F430. Some lucky tourist was just about to depart on a half-day tour of Okanagan Wine County.
If you are looking for a great summer lunch and dinner spot in Kelowna, I would definitely recommend trying the Oak + Cru.
