Here are the tasting notes on the new releases.
The Wines
Intrigue Wines Chardonnay 2018 ($16.90)
12% of the wine was fermented in new French oak barrels.
Alcohol 12.1%, RS 8 gm/ L, TA 6.63 gm/L.
This is lightly oaked chard. Aromas of green apple, tropical fruit with a hint of caramel. On the palate, ripe apple, Anjo pear, pineapple, honeydew melon, kiwi and toffee with crisp well-balanced acid. A great white for a hot summer day. 90 Points
The 2017 Vintage won a Bronze medal at All Canadian Wine Championship 2018.
The strong fruit character and rich structure allow this wine to compliment Roast Chicken, Cedar Plank Salmon or Crab Cakes.
Intrigue Wines Riesling 2018 ($17)
Alcohol 10.3 %| RS 18| pH 2.97 | TA 7.85
The Intrigue Riesling was selected from the Two Wong’s Make a White Vineyard in Oyama, Lake Country. Well-drained, gravelly soils combined with a west-facing slope provide an excellent site for developing the ripe flavours that this Riesling displays.
The wine is fermented very slowly to retain the fruit character and then use extensive lees stirring to help develop the body of the wine.
Aromas of pear, granny smith apple, and biscuit from the lees contact. On the palate the dry Riesling bursts with flavours of pink grapefruit, green apple and minerality. 91 Points.
Enjoy with a creamy risotto or seared scallops.
Intrigue Social Bubbly 2019 ($20)
The bubbly is a blend of 31.2% Pinot Gris, 23.9% Pinot Blanc, 20.5% Gewurztraminer, 11.9% Kerner, 8.4% Chardonnay and 4.2% Ehrenfelser.
Alcohol 12.4 %| RS 18.5| pH 3.15 | TA 5.9
A frizzante style wine, juicy, clean, crisp with a succulent finish. A golden hue and fine bubbles and citrus notes make this wine a pairing to celebrate any occasion. 90 Points
Suggested Food Pairings are spring rolls, grilled shrimp, sushi and also just fine on it’s own.
Intrigue Social White 2019 ($15)
The off-dry white blend contains 60% Riesling, and 35% Gewurztraminer., 3% Muscat Canelli, 1.1% Kerner, 0.5% Chardonnay, 0.4% Ehrenfelser,
Alcohol 11.2 %| RS 19.5| pH 3.02 | TA 7.78
The classic summer sipper! A juicy citrus explosion of Key Lime, Meyer lemon, Granny Smith Apples and Anjou pear. Low alcohol for social drinking. Buy by the case for your patio Vin du Jour! 90 Points.
Suggested Food Pairings – charcuterie boards, seared scallops, grilled chicken dishes.
Intrigue Social Rosé 2019 ($17)
Alcohol 12.1%, pH: 3.33 TA 6.63 g/ L, RS 9.8 g/L
The blush Rosé is a blend of 37% Riesling, 25% pinot gris, 15.4% Gewurztraminer, 12.2% Merlot, 8.2% Rotberger and 0.2% Malbec.
This is a lovely off-dry blush style Rosé that is light and fruity.
Aromas of strawberry, rhubarb and citrus and flavours of cranberry, red cherries and grapefruit. You will enjoy this Rosé as a fun summer party wine. 90 Points
The 2017 vintage was a Gold Medal winner at the All Canadian Wine Championship 2018.
Suggested Pairings – tossed greens with strawberries and goat cheese, or festive turkey dinner.
Intrigue Wines I DO ($20)
A blend of 53% Riesling, 29% Gewurztraminer, 14% Merlot and 4% Kerner.
Alcohol 10.8%, pH: 3.07 TA 7.55 g/ L, RS 20 g/L
Frizzante style rose’ with rich aromas of ripe peach and apples. Fruity, off-dry with an explosion of red fruit. Cranberry, Strawberry, raspberry with citrus and a hint of cinnamon makes for a wonderful palate pleaser. 92 Points.
With I DO you don’t need a reason to celebrate? This was my favourite wine of the tasting.

Intrigue Reserve Red 2018 ($45)
The Meritage blend is comprised of the following: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Petit Verdot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 9% Malbec, 8% Syrah, 5% Merlot.
These grapes were grown in Oliver B.C. and fermented in stainless steel before being aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
Aromas of black fruit, Christmas Pudding and floral roses. Flavours of black cherry, red plum, dark chocolate, leather with a hint of cinnamon. Ripe tannins, rich mouthfeel and lingering finish. Excellent Cabernet Sauvignon dominant Bordeaux blend. 93 Points
