Church and State Wines have just released two exceptional traditional method sparkling wines, a classic chardonnay bubbly and a sparkling pinot noir Rosé.
Church and State Blanc de Blancs 2018 ($32.88)
“This is the first vintage of this traditional method, brut nature Chardonnay. The 2018 Blanc de Blancs spent 30 months on the lees at our sparkling wine house in Brentwood Bay. The fruit for this wine comes from the Détente vineyard on the Black Sage Bench. A terroir that ripens Chardonnay perfectly for this method of wine making.
Fermentation in stainless steel tanks and aged in bottles for 30 months.
Winemaker – Arnaud Thierry
Alcohol: 12.5% / TA 7.2 g/L / RS 5.0 g/L
The wine has a pale straw colour with green hues. The nose opens on citrus notes and orchard blossoms. A crisp mouthfeel with a multitude of delicate fine bubbles. Flavours of ripe apples and Meyer lemon. 92 points.
Church and State Gris de Noirs 2019
This is the first vintage of sparkling Rosé made by Church and State. The pinot noir grapes were sourced from the four-hectare estate Brentwood Bay vineyard on Vancouver Island. Only 102 cases were produced.
Alcohol: 12.2% / TA 6.9 g/L / RS 8.0 g/L
The Pinot Noir grapes were fermented in Stainless steel tanks, then aged in bottles after second fermentation for at least 12 months.
A gorgeous pale salmon hue. Aromas of fresh strawberries, rose petals with a hint of hazelnut. Full of luscious ripe peach, mandarin orange and baked pear flavours with a hint of earthy bread and long finish. An exciting creamy mousse mouthfeel that is also perfectly balanced and refreshing. 93 Points.
