Hester Creek UNDICI Super Tuscan Debut

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Release Date Announced: May 1st UNDICI will be available in the Hester Creek Wine Shop and online

Hester Creek Estate Winery’s UNDICI brings a confident Italian accent to the winery’s red wine portfolio and signals a broader evolution underway in BC red blends. Named after Vineyard Eleven — a site the winemaking team consistently rates an internal 11/10 for quality — this Sangiovese-dominant blend delivers poise, structure, and a sense of place that feels both intentional and timely.

Super Tuscan–inspired reds are not new to British Columbia. La Stella Winery has long championed Italian varieties and blends, helping introduce BC wine drinkers to this style years ago. What makes UNDICI noteworthy is not reinvention, but momentum; a sign that these blends are moving beyond niche curiosity toward a more confident expression of what the South Okanagan now consistently delivers.

Vineyard 11

Hester Creek Vineyard Eleven

“This vineyard is located just south of The Cottages on the east side of Osoyoos Lake which makes it premium terroir for creating premium wines. It is an extremely warm vineyard site with south-west facing slopes allowing for a higher number of Growing Degree Days (GDD) with long afternoons, warm evenings and the additional reflection off the lake. We have given this vineyard the name, Vineyard Eleven, as it is an 11 out of 10 for quality vineyard locations in BC. The red grapes, including Sangiovese love the sandy soil, hot days and warm evenings.” Mark Hopley

Vineyard Eleven has already proven its pedigree. A Platinum Award–winning GSM blend was also sourced from this site, further underscoring the vineyard’s consistency across varieties.

Tasting Notes

Hester Creek UNDICI Super Tuscan with Baked Ziti pasta

Inspired by Tuscany, Super Tuscan wines emphasize elegance and structure, offering layered red fruit, savoury notes, and natural freshness, ideal for the table.

Aromas of cherry, cola, and cacao open the wine, with subtle earthy undertones. On the palate, this medium-plus-bodied red delivers layers of Bing cherry and darker red fruit, followed by notes of tobacco, sagebrush, vanilla bean, and a savoury edge that reflects both terrior and varietal. Refined tannins and bright acidity keep the wine focused and food-friendly.
