When BC's devastating 2024 freeze wiped out much o When BC's devastating 2024 freeze wiped out much of the province's grape crop, @quailsgate refused to compromise on quality.

Instead, winemaker Jeff Del Nin spent weeks driving across Washington State, personally tasting wines and selecting vineyard sites worthy of the Quails' Gate name.

The result is PLUME. Four beautifully crafted red wines that may be Washington-grown, but were made, aged and bottled in West Kelowna with the same meticulous attention to detail Quails' Gate is known for.

🍷 My favourites?
🥇 2024 PLUME Merlot – 93 Points
🍷 Cabernet Franc – 92 Points
🍷 Syrah – 92 Points
🍷 Cabernet Sauvignon – 92 Points

Read the full story behind the PLUME collection, along with my tasting notes and food pairings.

Washington Syrah continues to impress, and this release from Quails' Gate's PLUME collection is no exception.

Sourced from vineyards near the Columbia River and aged 16 months in French oak, it delivers impressive concentration without sacrificing elegance.

🍇 Tasting Notes
Layers of blueberry, black plum and cracked white pepper lead into a rich palate of blackberry, raspberry and blueberry, complemented by savoury smoked meat, dark chocolate and a subtle hint of bacon. The tannins are remarkably fine and velvety—more polished than you might expect from a Syrah—while bright acidity keeps everything balanced through a long, persistent finish.

92 Points ⭐️

🍽️ Perfect Pairings
BBQ ribs • Slow-roasted lamb • Smoked vegetables • Glazed ham • Dark chocolate

A beautifully crafted Syrah that combines power with finesse and showcases just how compelling premium Washington fruit can be.

🍷 2024 PLUME Merlot (Winery Direct | $37) @quails 🍷 2024 PLUME Merlot (Winery Direct | $37)

@quailsgate continues to show just how exceptional Washington fruit can be in the PLUME collection. Sourced from the renowned Sagemoor Block in White Bluffs AVA, this is a Merlot with impressive depth, structure and finesse.

🍇 Deep, dark ruby in the glass, it opens with aromas of blackberry, black plum, tobacco leaf and cedar. The palate is plush and full-bodied, layering rich black plum and blackberry with dark chocolate, graphite and a distinctive chalk-dust minerality. Despite its richness, vibrant acidity and firm, powdery tannins keep everything beautifully balanced, leading to a long, mineral-edged finish.

An exceptional Washington Merlot that overdelivers for the price.

93 Points ⭐

🍽️ Perfect with: Roasted pork tenderloin, roast chicken, Pacific salmon or aged Gruyère cheese.

🍷🥉 Bronze Medal Winner – WineAlign National Wine A 🍷🥉 Bronze Medal Winner – WineAlign National Wine Awards of Canada

A well-deserved congratulations to @nobleridgewinery on this outstanding 2025 Noble Rosé, a beautifully crafted 100% Cabernet Sauvignon rosé that delivers elegance, freshness and remarkable food versatility.

This Bronze Medal winner opens with inviting aromas of red berries, pink grapefruit and citrus blossom, followed by a graceful palate with subtle Cabernet structure, vibrant acidity and a clean mineral finish.

It was the perfect match for the seafood paella in today's photo, the wine's bright citrus notes and crisp acidity beautifully complemented the saffron, shrimp and shellfish while refreshing the palate with every bite.

⭐ 92 Points

🏅 Gold in the glass, and every sip shows why. The 🏅 Gold in the glass, and every sip shows why.

The 2022 @township7 Reserve 7 has earned Gold at the 2026 National Wine Awards of Canada, and it's easy to see why. This Merlot-led Bordeaux blend is rich, polished and beautifully balanced, pairing perfectly with Indonesian pork tenderloin, rice pilaf and baked eggplant.

Layers of black cherry, blackberry and ripe plum are wrapped in elegant notes of cedar, eucalyptus and subtle herbs, while velvety tannins and vibrant structure promise excellent cellaring. Powerful yet composed, this is one of Township 7's standout reds and a superb expression of the outstanding 2022 South Okanagan vintage.

Some wines just seem made for mountain evenings.

After a day enjoying everything the Columbia Valley has to offer, there's nothing better than firing up the Kamado Joe, grilling a great burger, and pouring a glass of Plume Cabernet Sauvignon on the cabin deck.

Rich flavours of blackberry, cassis and blueberry are layered with hints of vanilla, cedar and clove. Full-bodied with polished tannins and a long, elegant finish, it's a Cabernet that pairs beautifully with a perfectly grilled burger and fresh mountain air. 92 Points.

🏔️ Great wine. Great food. Great company. That's what cabin weekends are all about.

🍔 Pairing: @kamadojoe burgers with aged cheddar and all the fixings.
