🍷 Beaufort Organic Pinot Noir 2024 A youthful, co 🍷 Beaufort Organic Pinot Noir 2024

A youthful, cool-climate Pinot Noir from Vancouver Island with plenty of energy in the glass.

The nose opens with red currant, sour cherry and plum, while the palate brings bright red fruit, subtle earthy and leather notes, supple tannins and vibrant acidity that gives the wine a lively, refreshing edge.

That acidity really came into its own at the dinner table, pairing perfectly with Indonesian-style cod — a terrific example of how a bright, energetic Pinot Noir can shine with food.

Only four barrels were produced. The wine spent 26 days on the skins followed by 13 months in French oak, 30% new, and was bottled unfined and unfiltered.

The 2024 vintage was a challenging one for Vancouver Island growers, with a cool and difficult growing season making ripening and harvest decisions particularly important. Against that backdrop, this is an especially interesting expression of the vintage.

At just 11.5% alcohol, this is a distinctly cool-climate expression of Pinot Noir and still feels very young. I’ll revisit the bottle tomorrow to see whether a little air and another day open it up and mellow that vibrant acidity.

🍋🌿 A first for Vasanti — and a very appealing take 🍋🌿 A first for Vasanti — and a very appealing take on Okanagan Sauvignon Blanc.

The 2025 Vasanti Sauvignon Blanc is the winery’s first release of the variety, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grown at Paradise Vineyard in Oliver.

The fruit was gently pressed and cool fermented to preserve its fresh aromatics, then matured entirely in stainless steel. And with only 185 cases produced, there isn’t much of it around.

🥂 Tasting Notes: Fresh aromas of lemon and lime are complemented by green apple and a subtle touch of fresh hay. The palate is dry and refreshing, with mellow flavours of crisp green apple, white peach and citrus.

What I particularly like is the texture. It softens the bright acidity and gives the wine a mellow, balanced character, rather than the sharper, more aggressive style Sauvignon Blanc can sometimes deliver.

Clean and refreshing through the finish, with lingering lemon and lime.

A very nice debut for Sauvignon Blanc at Vasanti. 🍷

🍾✨ A really good value BC sparkler. The 2025 Vasa 🍾✨ A really good value BC sparkler.

The 2025 Vasanti Paradise Bubbles is made from 100% Pinot Gris grown at Paradise Vineyard, Vasanti’s coolest vineyard site in Oliver.

Cool fermentation helps preserve the fresh fruit character before the wine is finished with a lively effervescence — and the result is an easy-drinking sparkler that delivers plenty of flavour.

🥂 Tasting Notes: Inviting aromas of citrus, apricot and a delicate touch of honey lead into an abundance of fine bubbles that settle into a refreshing effervescence.

The palate is crisp and beautifully balanced, bursting with Key lime, lemon and pink grapefruit, complemented by juicy white peach.

Fresh, vibrant and remarkably easy to enjoy. At 11.6% alcohol, it’s a terrific summer aperitif and, for me, a really good value sparkler.

🍽️ Perfect with fresh seafood, sushi, creamy cheeses, appetizers — or simply well chilled on the patio.

🍷 A Merlot worth revisiting. The 2024 PLUME Merlo 🍷 A Merlot worth revisiting.

The 2024 PLUME Merlot from @quailsgate has been one of the real standouts for me in the PLUME collection — and at $37 winery direct, it delivers an impressive amount of wine for the price.

The fruit comes from the renowned Sagemoor Block in Washington’s White Bluffs AVA, producing a Merlot that combines ripe Washington fruit with plenty of structure and savoury complexity.

🍇 In the glass: Deep ruby with inviting aromas of blackberry, black plum, tobacco leaf and cedar. The palate is rich and plush, with layers of ripe black plum, blackberry and dark chocolate, followed by graphite and an intriguing chalk-dust minerality.

What keeps all that richness in check is the wine’s vibrant acidity and firm, powdery tannins. The result is a beautifully balanced Merlot with a long, mineral-driven finish.

⭐ 93 Points

For me, this is a reminder of just how good Merlot can be when you combine excellent Washington fruit with thoughtful Okanagan winemaking.

And at $37? One of the strongest values in the PLUME lineup.

🍽️ Pair it with roasted pork tenderloin, roast chicken, Pacific salmon or aged Gruyère.

🍷🌸 A seriously dry Okanagan Rosé — and a terrific 🍷🌸 A seriously dry Okanagan Rosé — and a terrific dinner wine.

The 2025 Vasanti Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé takes a noticeably drier direction this vintage. Made from 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc, it finishes at just 0.79 g/L residual sugar — crisp, refreshing and very food friendly.

🍓 Tasting Notes

Bright aromas of fresh strawberry and cranberry open the wine, accented by a subtle touch of thyme. The palate is crisp and vibrant, with juicy strawberry, mandarin orange and tart cranberry, balanced by lively acidity.

What I particularly enjoyed was the texture. There's a delicate softness through the mid-palate that gives the Rosé a little extra weight without sacrificing freshness, followed by a clean, lingering berry finish.

⭐ 91 Points

🍽️ At the table: Chicken souvlaki with pan-fried potatoes and grilled eggplant. The wine's bright acidity worked beautifully with the grilled chicken, while the strawberry and citrus flavours provided a refreshing counterpoint to the savoury Mediterranean flavours.

A lovely dry Okanagan Rosé for the final weeks of summer. ☀️🍷

This is a seriously delicious Okanagan Pinot Gris from @vasantiwines.

Sourced entirely from Paradise Vineyard, the 2025 vintage bursts with crisp green apple, juicy mandarin orange, ripe peach and apricot, with bright orchard fruit and delicate citrus blossom on the nose.

Whole-cluster pressing and cool fermentation preserve all that freshness, while a short period on fine lees with regular bâtonnage adds lovely texture.

The result? Crisp, juicy and beautifully balanced, with vibrant acidity, a distinctive mineral backbone and a long, refreshing finish. One of those bottles that disappears remarkably quickly. 🍷
