Lunessence Winery & Vineyard is pleased to announce that Maxime Legris has joined the team as Head Winemaker. Max was most recently Assistant Winemaker at CedarCreek Estate Winery for two years and brings with him extensive winemaking, vineyard & technical experience from Ontario and New Zealand.
Max completed his Sommelier Certification in Ottawa in 2007 and his B. Sc. degree in Oenology & Viticulture at Brock University in St. Catharines in Ontario. During his time in Niagara, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and then at Brock University with the CCOVI Viticulturalist Dr. Jim Willwerth.
In 2012, Max did two vintages at Malivoire Wine Company in Ontario, followed by two vintages in New Zealand with Babich Wines, Marlborough, honing his vineyard, cellar and lab analysis skills. In 2014, he relocated to the Okanagan to join Pentage Winery in Penticton. As the Assistant Winemaker to owners Paul Gardner and Julie Rennie, he helped to oversee all winemaking, cellar, and vineyard operations for the 5,000-case winery. In joining Lunessence, he teams up with Jason Faulkner, who he worked with at CedarCreek in 2017.

Lunessence Winery & Vineyard was founded in 2014 with the aim of crafting fine wines using sustainable, environmentally sensitive viticulture practices. The estate winery is based in Summerland, BC and produces approximately 5,000 cases of 100% VQA from fruit grown and sourced from different sites and terroir in the Okanagan Valley.
