[Summerland, B.C.] Lunessence is excited to announce the appointment of a new winemaker Taylor Ballantyne. Taylor was the Assistant Winemaker at Tantalus for the last three years. He was introduced to winemaking in the Marlborough region of New Zealand and garnered further winemaking and farming experience early on when his family owned and operated a winery on the Naramata Bench, which lead to harvests with several top Okanagan wineries.

He continued his training with winemaking and viticulture education through Okanagan College, and subsequent harvest and winemaking jobs scattered throughout the Okanagan and Similkameen valley. This position led him to be an assistant winemaker at Dirty Laundry Vineyard before joining Tantalus.

Taylor joins Lunessence as they approach their ninth vintage and have recently achieved organic certification with their Summerland estate vineyard.

“I’m looking forward to this unique opportunity to elevate Lunessence to even greater heights. Organic, regenerative and sustainable practices are avenues that I will continue to explore during my tenure at Lunessence and I am very excited to see where we end up. With the new vineyards we have coming into maturity, and the new wines I will be able to influence, there’s a lot to be excited for, and I’m looking forward to sharing that with you all.”
