Beyond the Patio: Standout BC Rosés
Updated for Spring/Summer 2026, with new 2025-vintage Rosé releases.
Rosé in British Columbia has firmly moved past its “summer-only” reputation. What was once a seasonal staple has evolved into one of the most dynamic categories in the province, with winemakers dialling in precision, texture, and site expression across a wide stylistic range. Today’s BC rosés span the spectrum: pale, mineral-driven, and citrusy for warm afternoons, alongside more structured, gastronomic styles that pair comfortably with everything from grilled seafood to early-fall dishes. It’s a category that continues to gain ground, and for good reason.

River Stone Cabernet Franc Rosé ($24.90)

“The Cabernet Franc was hand-picked and destemmed. The Cab Franc Rosé was made in a traditional style, where we cold-soaked the grapes for 24 to 48 hours and then fully pressed them, separating the pulp from the juice. In doing so, we extract some rich colour and skin tannin, enhancing the wine mouth feel. Then, the clarified juice undergoes a cool, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is further aged for three months on the finer lees where complexity and mouth feel are developed. The 2023 vintage was blended with 10% Pinot Gris, fined, filtered and bottled. The result is a beautiful, vibrantly coloured rosé.”Ted Kane

A combination of whole berry and whole cluster pressing was used to extract a clean juice.
