Viognier (pronounced vee-own-yay) remains one of the wine world’s most captivating aromatic whites. Originating in France’s Northern Rhône, the grape has built a loyal following in regions like California and Australia — and increasingly here in British Columbia. Known for its floral aromatics, creamy texture, and exotic fruit profile, Viognier often delivers Chardonnay-like richness wrapped in vibrant freshness.
In BC, Viognier remains a niche varietal, accounting for only a small percentage of the province’s vineyard acreage, yet its momentum continues to build. More wineries are embracing the grape’s expressive personality and remarkable versatility at the table, especially with seafood, spicy cuisine, and richly textured summer dishes.
The 2025 vintage is shaping up to be one of the strongest recent releases for BC Viognier. Several exciting new wines have already arrived, including the return of the beautifully crafted 2025 Viognier from Bottega Wine Studio — the winery’s first Viognier since 2017.
🥂 Here are ten standout BC Viogniers to discover in 2026, from floral, mineral-driven expressions to richer, textured styles perfect for summer patios, seafood pairings, and elegant dinner tables year-round.
