The Vineyard
The Winemakers
In 1991 Eric returned to Canada to found Summerhill Estate Winery with partner Stephen Cipes. In addition to being a consulting winemaker, Erik is also the Winemaker and Director of Wine Operations at Summerhill Pyramid Winery.
The Vibrant Vine Art
No ordinary art here! Both the canvasses for sale in the winery and the art on the bottles use a 3-D technique. Every visitor to the winery can wear a pair of 3-D glasses to better appreciate the art.
Nor are these ordinary labels. Every label is a shrink-wrap cylinder put on the bottles by hand and then shrunk in place with heat.
Vintage 2017 and Future Plans
Wyn Lewis provided the following comments. “The 2017 vintage was great (becoming normal now). Some challenges during the year with some apprehension, but in the end completely normal.Plans for the future will depend on how our new position as the # 1 Winery in Canada impacts demand. We’ve just completed a multi-million dollar expansion and planting of Pinot Gris. So far demand is up about 35% from last year, back to a more normal trend after the smoke challenges of last year.”
The Wines
Vibrant Vine Pinot Grigio 2017 – The first organic wine made using certified organic grapes. Whole bunch pressed and cool stainless steel ferment to enhance mid-palate texture and aromatic freshness.
Vibrant Vine Phantom Red 2016 – The Phantom is a full-bodied, fruit-forward red with notes of black cherry, blackberry, strawberry, sage, white pepper, and vanilla. It has soft tannins, bright acidity and a lasting finish.
Vibrant Vine Phoenix 2016 – The new Phoenix is a classic Merlot. It is a medium body wine with interesting herbal notes and hints of cherry and plum.

Wine and art – what could be better than that? Looks like a fun place to pass the afternoon.
Lauren: There is a strong connection between the local artists and wineries in the Okanagan. Several wineries sponsor Wine and Paint nights. Cheers, Julian
