The Vibrant Vine for Wine & 3-D Art

Reading Time: 3 minutes
Wyn, Anthony, and Marion Lewis opened the Vibrant Vine Tasting Room in 2010.   For the last eight years, they have indulged their passion for creating the best possible wine tasting experience. They have now expanded to include Okanagan Villa Estate Winery, Frequency Wine and Sound Winery. Together, all three create a spectrum of fantastic experiences that will live with you forever.

The Vineyard

The Vibrant Vine has an 8.5 acres vineyard surrounding the Winery.  They also have long-term contracts with another 20 acres farmed by local grape growers. They grow Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Chardonnay and farm Gewurztraminer, Muscat and Pinot Auxurois.

The Winemakers

The Vibrant Vine has two consulting winemakers. The white wines are made by Matt Dumayne.  You can find details on Matt’s experiences in a previous post here.
The red wines are made by Eric Von Krosigk.  Eric was born in Vernon into a farming family. After spending his teenage summers working on the farms, Eric decided he wanted to become a grape grower and travelled to Germany where he worked for three years at a grape research station and two well-known family wineries before pursuing a degree in Beverage Engineering at the University of Geisenheim.

In 1991 Eric returned to Canada to found Summerhill Estate Winery with partner Stephen Cipes.  In addition to being a consulting winemaker, Erik is also the Winemaker and Director of Wine Operations at Summerhill Pyramid Winery.

The Vibrant Vine Art

Vibrant Vine

No ordinary art here!  Both the canvasses for sale in the winery and the art on the bottles use a 3-D technique. Every visitor to the winery can wear a pair of 3-D glasses to better appreciate the art.

Nor are these ordinary labels. Every label is a shrink-wrap cylinder put on the bottles by hand and then shrunk in place with heat.

Vintage 2017 and Future Plans

Wyn Lewis provided the following comments.  “The 2017 vintage was great (becoming normal now). Some challenges during the year with some apprehension, but in the end completely normal.
Plans for the future will depend on how our new position as the  # 1 Winery in Canada impacts demand. We’ve just completed a multi-million dollar expansion and planting of Pinot Gris.   So far demand is up about 35% from last year, back to a more normal trend after the smoke challenges of last year.”

    • Lauren: There is a strong connection between the local artists and wineries in the Okanagan. Several wineries sponsor Wine and Paint nights. Cheers, Julian
