Little Straw Library Wines

On Monday, 17th of January Little Straw Vineyards will be releasing their 2012 Southern Cross wine. Only 8 cases of the library wine will be available for sale.

The winemaker, Barb Hall, and tasting room manager, Helene, checked 88 library wines dating back to 1995 to find good quality wines. The 2012 Southern Cross has aged well, so they decided to share it with the customers!

For more information on the winery please see – Little Straw Vineyards for Tapestry

The first Southern Cross vintage in 2009 was named to commemorate the fact that it is a “crossing” of Ripasso style Pinot Noir from the West Kelowna estate vineyard with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes sourced from Smiling Duck Vineyards in the South Okanagan.

Tasting Notes

This wine has poise, balance and structure.  This red blend combines Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the South Okanagan with a small proportion of our estate-grown red varietals which are used to make our Cuvée Noir blend.

Dark garnet in colour and slightly lighter towards the rim.

Rich, ripe, dark berries and the oak is gentle on the nose.

The palate has integrated oak and silky tannins from the older oak barrels used in the ageing of the wine. It complements the soft berry compote flavours. The acidity balances the wine, and the soft dark fruit lingers on the aftertaste.

Aged to perfection so drink and enjoy it now.
