The 2025 BC grape harvest is arriving earlier than expected—and it’s bringing plenty of good news. After last year’s devastating losses, this season is shaping up as a welcome rebound. Fruit quality is exceptional, and yields are far stronger than anyone dared hope just a few months ago.
In an industry where farming often swings between feast and famine, growers are finally seeing abundance return to the vineyards. Many wineries now anticipate harvesting close to 90% of a full crop—nearly double the early-season estimates of just 50%—as the Okanagan shakes off the sting of 2024’s extreme cold.
Here’s a roundup of how the harvest is unfolding across BC wine country. 🍇

“Exciting things are happening here at River Stone! Yesterday we picked our Sauvignon Blanc grapes from our Boulder City Vineyard. The cellar is alive with energy as these grapes begin their transformation into what will soon become our 2025 vintage.
Every harvest carries its own story, and this year’s chapter has just begun. We can’t wait to share the next glass of River Stone history with you.

In this photo, winemaker Mark Hopley is using a refractometer to check the sugar levels (Brix) in the grapes — a key step that helps determine when the fruit is ready to harvest.
It’s all part of the careful attention to detail that goes into every bottle at Hester Creek.

Crush is on! ![]()
Today we’re bringing in our Pinot Noir and sending it into the tank. At our small, family-run winery, harvest is truly a team effort — even our owner, Richard Da Silva, is out on the crush pad working alongside the crew.
It’s long days and seven days a week, rain or shine, but all of it is worth it to bring these beautiful grapes from vineyard to bottle. Here’s a peek at the magic of crush — one of our favourite times of the year. ![]()
