The Winemaker’s CUT BOHEMIAN brand is premium wines that exemplify the uniqueness of the south Okanagan vineyards made with artful, traditional winemaking. Here are the tasting notes for another set of exceptional wines from Michal Mosny. You can try these wines at the District Wine Village in Oliver.

Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian Riesling 2020 ($24)
Chahal vineyard was planted in 2008 North of Oliver. The soil type is sandy loam and gravel.
The Riesling was hand-harvested at an average of 21 Brix and yielded 4.1 tons per acre.
The winemaking used wild and organic yeast fermented for up to 71 days. 22% of the wine was barrel fermented for texture. 10% had skin contact for 14 days to enhance aromatics.

A light and refreshing Riesling. Pale yellow. A wide range of tropical and herbal aromas. Flavours of Granny Smith apple, white peach, apricot, Key lime and Mandarin orange with a hint of stony minerality on the finish. 91 Point.
Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian Pinot Noir 2020 ($37)
The Vineyards are North of Oliver and Southeast of Osoyoos. The oil type is sandy loam and gravel and was planted in 2011. Hand harvested in mid-September 2020 at an average of 24.2 Brix and 4 tons per acre yield.
50% cold fermentation for 13 days using organic yeast and 50% wild fermentation for 17 days to complete malolactic fermentation. Aged for 12 months in 80% neutral and 20% new French oak, then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
13.5% alcohol / 3.71 pH / TA 5.6 / RS 2.9 / free SO216mg/L / total SO2 72mg/L
A delicious dry, medium-bodied Pinot Noir. Vibrant aromas of violets, cherry, and mushroom. Black cherry, baking spices, and forest floor with fine tannins and a medium-long finish are on the palate. 92 points
Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian Syrah 2020 ($40)
92% Syrah 8% Viognier. The grapes are from the Estate Vineyard, Deadman Lake Vineyard, Oliver BC.
Cold-soaked for 2 days. Organic yeast fermentation for 18 days with free run press and complete malolactic fermentation. Aged for 10 months, Slovakian, American, and French oak are then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
14% Alcohol, 3.85 pH, 6.5 TA, 2.1 RS, free SO2 28mg/L / total SO2 72
A juicy, luscious, full-bodied BC Syrah that is deep garnet in colour. A stunning aroma of violets, black fruit, licorice, cured meat, and black pepper.
The vibrant fruit-forward wine on the palate features ripe plums, blackberries, and white pepper. Medium/full-bodied and silky smooth with fine-grained tannins and spicy black fruit persisting on the long finish. Another cellar-worthy Syrah from Winemaker’s CUT. 93 Points
Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian Cuvée Rouge 2020 ($35)
The grapes are from the Chahal and Quails Wayside vineyards in Oliver. 58% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Only 400 cases were produced. Hand-harvested in late October 2020 at an average 25.2 Brix and 4.7 tons per acre yield.
Cold-soaked for 2 days. Complete malolactic fermentation for 18 days. It was aged for 10 months in American, French and Slovakian oak.
14 % Alcohol / 3.64 pH / 6.5 TA /3.5 RS free SO2 16mg/L / total SO2 40
It’s a spectacular red blend. The Merlot dominant blend is a gorgeous deep garnet colour that opens up a blackberry bouquet infused with hints of pepper, herbs, leather and smoke. A full-body wine with flavours of blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, leather, cured meat and espresso linger throughout the finish. Complex layers of fruit and polished tannins. Can be cellared for 10 Years. + 93 points
Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian Cabernet Franc ($37)
The grapes are from the estate and Quails Wayside vineyards in Oliver. Hand-harvested on 25th October 2020 at an average of 24.5 Brix, 5.6 tons per acre.
Cold soaked for 1 day, then organic yeast fermentation for 14 days with free run press and complete malolactic fermentation. Aged for ten months in French Oak, then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
13.5 % Alcohol / 3.73 pH / 5.4 TA / 3.6 RS / free SO2 10mg/L / total SO2 32
A medium-bodied Cabernet Franc with black fruit aromas and herbaceous notes. A well-balanced red with flavours of cherry, raspberry, plum, licorice and a hint of green pepper, plus soft, plush tannins. 90 Points.
Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian Petit Verdot 2020 (Wineclub Only)
The grapes are from the Harfman vineyard in Osoyoos. This half-acre sandy loam vineyard was planted in 2009. Hand-harvested on 18th October 2020 at an average of 25.9 Brix, 3.6 tons per acre.
Cold-soaked for 1 day and then organic yeast fermentation for 16 days. A free run press with complete malolactic fermentation. Aged for 10 months in French oak then bottled unfined and unfiltered. Only 80 cases were produced.
15% Alcohol / 3.88 pH, 6.2 TA / 3.0 RS / free SO2 24mg/L / total SO2 102
This is a big, bold tannic red so decant before serving. Vibrant aromas of black cherry, violet, and sage. Flavours of blackberry, blueberry and bacon with earthy undertones. It is full-bodied, dense and concentrated with excellent length. Will age for 7-10 years. 92 Points
Winemaker’s CUT Bohemian Cabernet Sauvignon 2020 (Wineclub only)
From the Quail’s wayside vineyard in Oliver. Hand-harvested on 25th October 2020 at an average of 25.5 Brix, 3.6 tons per acre.
Cold-soaked for 1 day and then organic yeast fermentation for 15 days. A free run press with full malolactic fermentation. Aged for 6 months in French and American oak then bottled unfined and unfiltered.
14% Alcohol / 3.87 pH, 5.9 TA / 2.2 RS / free SO2 21mg/L / total SO2 59
A gorgeous black fruit aroma with flavours of black cherry, black currant and a hint of thyme. A medium/full-bodied complex wine with structured tannins and a long finish. 91 points.
